The folowing videos have been selected to introduce visitors to the full range of musical styles in which Ikaia-Purdy so joyously performs. And while it is fashionable to disdain such catholic tastes in music, such a view is, on the one hand, in stark contrast to the practice of Gigli, Schipa and Caruso ( whose opinions Ikaia-Purdy is far more inclined to credit,) and on the other, completely un-Hawaiian; for, like his great predecessors Tandy MacKenzie and Charles K.L. Davis, Ikaia-Purdy has always felt privileged to perform music - of whatever genre -which he feels to be "great," "moving", or "entertaining." Here then is a sample, ranging from Boito through Kern, Reichel through Meyerbeer. And, unifying this typically "Hawaiian mixed plate" are Ikaia-Purdy's unvarying good taste, excellent musicianship and gorgeous voice.

Music Clips
These recordings were chosen as broadly representative; their acoustic quality was not a factor. They are all from public performances (except Calaf's first aria, which is taken from a rehearsal where the conductors ‘sings' Liu). The recordings were made with various equipment in dissimilar environs. (Tracks 7, 8 and 11 are from fine, radio sources.) Still, one encounters the artist live, to thrilling effect.
